Clear Skin Nutrition: How to Get Clear Skin

This diet will also benefit anyone who has or suspects they have autoimmune disease or issues.

We know that human bodies are constantly trying to reach or maintain a state of homeostasis. For example, we can tell when we’re hot because our body temperature rises, and we may start to sweat. This sweat is a form of feedback that our body temperature is at a level our body wants to bring down. Reactions on our skin can also be a source of feedback, letting us know that foods we’re ingesting aren’t the right fit for our bodies. A food that triggers a skin reaction in you might not trigger a skin reaction in someone else. For those who feel like their skin is rarely clear, there are a number of food groups that typically trigger inflammation for these people that you’ll learn about in this book (free on this website).

  • The below diet can help improve other conditions and problems, such as joint pain, fatigue, autoimmune flare-ups, pancreatitis, and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
  • This diet has also been shown to help prevent stomach or back pains after eating.

Summary: Food groups that often cause issues

One of the keys to clear skin is avoiding foods that are known for triggering skin issues and other kinds of inflammation. The graphics below provide an overview of the foods you should consider avoiding.

Why do these foods cause problems? These foods contain compounds like lectins that have been shown to trigger inflammation in people.

Whole foods

Note: In this online book, the terms ‘whole foods’ and ‘natural foods’ mean the same thing.

A whole food is defined as an edible food that exists naturally in nature and has not been altered or mixed with non-edible substances or non-naturally occurring ingredients or foods.

For example, cooking oils are only considered whole foods if they haven’t been produced using an extraction process that requires hexane, a non-edible substance.

Natural Foods

Food that naturally exist in nature or foods created from naturally occurring foods.

FAQ

Will this diet help if I get itchy skinand other body reactions after eating foods (Currently solving)

Yup!

Does that mean I can never eat these foods again?

You absolutely can, but you have to accept that doing so may result in skin issues down the line. Some people seem to be able to eat these foods without any skin issues but we haven’t been able to figure out why. If we figure that out, we’ll let you know. It’s possible that these people have a different form of biofeedback that doesn’t involve their face. For example, some people have back acne or get bumps in their groin areas.

How to figure out what foods you’re sensitive to

Some of you might only be sensitive to a subset of these foods, while others may be sensitive to all. To figure out what foods you’re sensitive to, don’t eat any food groups in this book until you get clearer skin. Once you have clearer skin, introduce one food group and wait at least 2 days to see if you have a reaction. If you don’t have a reaction, there’s a chance you’re not sensitive to that food group. To be safe, we recommend that you always take a mental note of what you eat so that when you get skin issues, you’ll be able to figure out the culprit. If you’re willing to go hardcore, you can write or type down all your meals and review them against the food groups and recommendations in this food.

Always watch your skin for biofeedback

We’d like to leave you with the awareness that you alone can figure out what causes your skin issues by monitoring how your skin reacts to the foods you eat. There might be foods in here that trigger your skin and only you can know that. How? Monitor what happens to your skin whenever you eat. Over time, you’ll know what foods are safe for you and what foods cause your skin to react.
